MAN FROM INVERNESS TURNS €2 INTO €30,000 AND WINS THE THIRD WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP OF FANTASY FOOTBALL ON SALAH BEING SUBBED OFF 30 SECONDS BEFORE FINAL WHISTLE!

In a thrilling finale of the third World Championship of Fantasy Football, the winner was decided by the smallest of margins, as three players all ended up at 146 points! The tiebreaker was the lowest budget spent in the final round, which turned out to propel ‘ fscottl’ to the top. However, the user ‘ gaffel’ would have won it all if Salah had not been subbed off 30 seconds before the end! I t was a dramatic win for ‘ fscottl’, who is a relatively new name on the Fanteam, and who qualified for the final through a €2 satellite!

The World Championship is a yearly dual-game week event played daily fantasy-style, in two separate game weeks for the English Premier League. The event runs on Europe’s biggest Daily Fantasy site; FanTeam.com. This year we had 116 participants, who either qualified through satellites or paid the entry fee of €1,050. A €100,000 guaranteed prize pool grew to €116,000 while the first prize was €30,000.

After the first round last weekend, the user ‘ fscottl’ had the lead with 88 points, nicely helped by De Bruyne (13 points), Manè (10 points) and Martial (9 points) (team attached). However, there were only 11 points separating 20th place from the leader, so the championship was wide open before the last round that started on New Year’s Day.

Indeed, ‘ fscottl’ was passed by several competitors as the majority of matches in the second round came to a conclusion. With only Liverpool – Sheffield United as the only remaining fixture, ‘ fscottl’ found himself in 7th place. He still had a chance, as many of the entries above him had used all of their 11 players, while ‘ fscottl’ had two unused players: Alexander-Arnold and Manè. As Manè scored a goal, and Alexander Arnold kept a clean sheet, ‘fscottl’ took over the first place with the narrowest of margins.

But, there was a big obstacle ahead for ‘ fscottl’; with FanTeam`s fantasy scoring system midfielders and attackers get an extra point for playing the full match, and with only minutes left of the match, ‘ gaffel’ had Salah still on the pitch and as captain. This meant that if Salah played the full match, ‘gaffel’ would win the WCOFF and shove ‘ fscottl’ down to a 2nd place and a €20,000 prize instead!

The cheers in Inverness must have been rather noticeable, as with only 40 seconds left in overtime, the referee blew his whistle, signaled a substitution, and cameras shifted from Henderson to Salah. Salah walked off as the last Liverpool substitute to give youngster Harvey Elliott his first Premier League seconds, and at the same time earning ‘ fscottl’ €10,000 extra and the famous WCOFF trophy.

Fantasy Sports Interactive are delighted to announce the launch of their innovative odds-based Fantasy Sports offering, Fixed-Odds-Fantasy, in South Africa on the region’s most popular Sports Betting operator, Hollywoodbets.

FSI’s original offering combines Fantasy Sports gameplay and Sportsbook, providing Hollywoodbets’ customers with a diverse gaming experience, where they can enjoy fantasy football as a skill game and bet to win cash, according to a dedicated set of fantasy odds.

Specifically, Hollywoodbets users are able to create their own fantasy team, tapping into detailed League Players’ statistics, and bet on their team’s fantasy prowess according to a dedicated set of fantasy odds.

Fixed-Odds-Fantasy features a series of fantasy points thresholds (point ranges) that users’ fantasy teams are required to reach in order to win. FSI generates the fantasy-based odds (multipliers) defining the winnings for each threshold every week, using an original AI-based fantasy odds generation algorithm.

FSI’s offering went live on Hollywoodbets’ platform in June 2020, under the product name “Fantasy League Betting”.

Fantasy Sports Interactive’s CEO, Dennis Tsalikis, stated that “at FSI we are thrilled to reach the South African audience through the leading operator in the region. Hollywoodbets have a strong presence in the online and retail betting market, and an experienced team we have been delighted to collaborate with. We are confident about the product’s success and the future of this partnership”.

Rowan Cross, Hollywoodbets COO, commented: “We here at Hollywoodbets are thrilled to be the first South African company to bring this new bet type to our valued customers. Thanks to this partnership with FSI a whole host of new betting opportunities will now be available to the many fantasy league fans out there. We urge our customers to keep looking out for other exciting Fantasy League updates from Hollywoodbets and FSI in the near future”.

The Fixed-Odds-Fantasy product distribution to Hollywoodbets is a result of FSI’s strategic partnership with Betting Entertainment Technologies (Pty) Limited (BET).

Scout Gaming presents preliminary Q1 revenues and the initial COVID-19 impact
Reading Time: 2 minutes

Scout Gaming is monitoring the development of COVID-19 closely and act accordingly. In light of the extraordinary conditions caused by COVID-19, Scout Gaming is providing an update on preliminary Q1 revenue. Even though the current situation is unpredictable, the Group currently expects sports to resume successively during the summer.

Trading update

Scout Gaming has had a good start to the year with total revenue for the first quarter of 2020 estimated to be in the range of SEK 8.2-8.7 million (Q1 2019: SEK 3.5 million), which means a growth of 134-149% compared with corresponding quarter previous year. The revenue was positively impacted by strong underlying client activity up to the disturbance of sports in the middle of March 2020.

The impact of cancelled sports events was essentially effective from mid-March 2020, which resulted in lower turnover, expected to have affected the revenues between SEK 1.0-1.5 million. Operator Trading Index for Q1 was 1004, compared to 549 for Q1 2019, which means a growth of 83%.

Scout Gaming operates with several different revenue streams including a portion of fixed fees set in all long-term agreements.

Operational update

Scout Gaming has taken measures to protect employees and to ensure stability of operations by adjusting ways of working so that employees and critical external contractors, as far as possible, work from home. Benefitting from a new built technology and being a young company, this has been achieved with no whatsoever disruption to the business.

Scout Gaming is working hard to continue to provide an attractive sport offering to their clients. Due to the flexible nature of the business Scout Gaming has been able to provide DFS tournaments as well as Matchup duels and Player Performance Odds on local leagues that were not a part offering before the COVID-19 outbreak. In connection to the outbreak Scout Gaming also launched a full set of Esports related markets.

“Even though it is impossible to foresee the future development of this ongoing pandemic, we currently only expect temporary negative impact on our business from the ongoing Corona outbreak. Our best guess at the moment is that sports will be resuming successively during the summer. In order to maintain financial stability, we have adapted our cost base through overseeing and hence reducing mainly levels of marketing related costs, but also personnel costs as well as operating costs in general.

The current situation is by no doubt very challenging, but I’m extremely impressed in how our full organization put their maximum effort and creativity to handle this in an optimal way. I’m very positive on the outlook of Scout Gaming as we continue to agree significant deals with market leading operators.

As the market leading fantasy sports supplier, we will continue to benefit from a wide geographical landgrab and a growing product portfolio. I also see that the market for Fantasy Sports and player related content is in a favorable global position where operators seek more relevant sports content”, comments Scout Gaming’s CEO, Andreas Ternstrom.

Presentation of quarterly results

Scout Gaming intends to present the full results and report for the first quarter of 2020 on Wednesday, 20th of May.
