Jérôme Gallot is Appointed Mediator of ANJ
Jérôme Gallot is appointed gaming mediator from December 2, 2024, by a decision of Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin, President of the National Gaming Authority. This appointment comes following his registration on the list of consumer mediators by the Consumer Mediation Evaluation and Control Commission.
Born in October 1959, Jérôme Gallot has been a member of the Court of Auditors since 1985. He has spent almost his entire career outside this jurisdiction. First from 1989 within the Ministry of Economy and Finance, where he was Director General of the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF) from 1997 to 2003. Then in large public institutions among the management bodies of the Caisse des Dépôts and at the head of some of its subsidiaries such as CDC Entreprise or the Strategic Investment Fund. In 2011, he joined the executive committee of Veolia Environnement, managing Veolia-Transdev. He then founded his own consulting firm, specializing in the fields of competition law and consumer law.
Between 2004 and 2021, he was a director of numerous listed and unlisted companies. Since 2024, he has been a director of a foundation.
Games mediation
The aim of gambling mediation is to promote the amicable settlement of disputes that may arise between players and gaming or betting operators approved by the ANJ or holders of exclusive rights (Française des jeux and PMU).
Before contacting the mediator from the mediateurdesjeux website, people must first contact the operator in writing. Depending on the response obtained or in the absence of a response from the operator within 20 days, players can then contact the mediator. The parties may withdraw from the mediation process at any time. The mediator’s proposal has no binding effect, each party being free to accept or refuse the solution chosen by the mediator. Finally, participation in mediation does not exclude the possibility of an appeal before a court.
The main figures of mediation
1523 applications received in 2023.
Sports betting represents the vast majority of mediation requests (91%)
752 applications declared inadmissible. The absence of a prior written complaint to the operators constitutes the main reason for inadmissibility (89%)
About a third of requests receive partial or full satisfaction.
