February registers sinking down of revenues in Detroit casinos

As per the reports of Michigan Gaming Control Board, revenues posted by Detroit casinos were three percent down in the first two months of the year.

The performance of three Detroit based casinos have been below the mark during the beginning of 2018 and they continue to post lower revenues consecutively. The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB), revealed that income during February was down compared to the same month last year and, adding it up with January’s results, casino revenue was three percent lower this year.

During February, monthly revenue at Greektown Casino dropped down by over 9 percent year-on-year and barely reached US$26 million. Meanwhile, MotorCity Casino posted revenue 5.6 percent lower as it raked just over US$38 million. MGM Grand’s revenue was also down in comparison to February 2017 as it reached US$46 million, 4.7 percent less.

In January, the MGCB reported that all three casinos reached a total of US$111 million. MGM Grand Detroit reported monthly revenue of US$47 million, MotorCity achieved US$38 million, while Greektown’s was around US$25 million.

Last year, all three casinos reported US$ 1.4 billion in aggregate revenue. Slot machines brought in US$1.14 billion – which accounted for 81 percent of total revenue while table games took in US$260 million.
