ETA recognizes Paysafe leader in 2020 ‘Forty Under 40’

Director of Marketing Patrick Turiano to be honored as US payments industry gamechanger at ETA’s TRANSACT conference in April

Paysafe, a leading specialized payments platform, announced that Patrick Turiano, Director of Marketing, North America, has been selected in the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA)’s annual ‘Forty Under 40’. Turiano and the class of 2020 will be formally honored at the ETA’s TRANSACT event at the Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, where Paysafe will exhibit at booth #415 from April 27th to 30th, 2020.

The Washington, D.C.-based payments industry trade association has named Paysafe leaders in the ‘Forty Under 40’ every year since its inception in 2018. The ETA’s class of 2019 included two leaders after a Paysafe Vice President was recognized in its inaugural class.

This year’s Paysafe honoree, Turiano, who has over a decade’s payments industry experience, oversees the company’s marketing strategy for its US and Canadian payment processing division. His role includes managing investments in numerous acquiring strategies and channels – from agents, independent sales organizations (ISOs), and financial institutions (FIs) to independent software vendors (ISVs), direct channels, and point of sale (POS) partners. Turiano leads a team of channel marketing managers and specialists based on the US east and west coasts.

Prior to Paysafe’s acquisition of iPayment in 2018, Turiano served as the payment solutions provider’s Director of Marketing Communications. His previous positions include senior marketing roles at iMobile3 (acquired by TSYS in 2018) and Cayan (acquired by TSYS in 2017).

Turiano said: “The ETA’s ‘Forty Under 40’ has already recognized many payments professionals who’ve inspired me over the course of my career, so it’s truly an honor to join their number this year. My recognition also reflects the hard work and dedication of my colleagues on Paysafe’s marketing team.”

BetMGM signs with PGA TOUR as an Official Betting Operator

The PGA TOUR announced that BetMGM has signed a multi-year content and marketing relationship to become an Official Betting Operator of the PGA TOUR.

By joining the TOUR’s Official Betting Operator program, BetMGM will have rights in the United States to use PGA TOUR marks, rights to advertise within TOUR media and TOUR partner platforms, plus content and video rights allowing BetMGM Sportsbook platforms to create pre-game and post-game betting programming, as well as distribution of highlights to users who have placed bets.

“BetMGM is part of a premium brand that is deeply connected to golf through sponsorship of various PGA TOUR players and tournaments,” said Norb Gambuzza, PGA TOUR Senior Vice President, Media and Gaming. “Through the power of the BetMGM brand and resources, this new relationship will help accelerate our sports betting strategy, and enable the TOUR to reach new fans and further engage current fans who enjoy betting on golf.”

The PGA TOUR is one of the most popular offerings on BetMGM’s platform. Currently available for download on iOS and Android, the BetMGM mobile app offers the latest betting odds, enhanced offers and multiple betting formats, from money line and point spread bets to parlays and futures. BetMGM is currently licensed for sports betting in seven states including ColoradoIndianaMichiganMississippiNew JerseyNevada as well as West Virginia, and has plans to be in eleven states by the end of 2020.

Following the Supreme Court’s repeal of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act in 2018, the TOUR instituted an integrity program in collaboration with Genius Sports to protect its competitions from betting-related corruption. Later that year, the TOUR announced a global partnership with IMG ARENA to license its official, live scoring data to betting operators all over the world.

The PGA TOUR is a Platinum Member of the National Council on Problem Gambling, committed to industry-leading responsible gaming practices.

Sydney studio’s Chicken Fox, Silver Lioness 4x and Eagle Sun to go live in U.S. land-based casinos

Specialist slots provider Lightning Box has reached an agreement with Konami Gaming, Inc. to supply the Las Vegas-based manufacturer with several of its most popular titles.

Konami enjoys a strong presence in the U.S. market and the collaboration will see three of the Australian provider’s best-performing games, Chicken Fox, Silver Lioness 4x and Eagle Sun go live in land-based casinos there in early 2021.

It will also further enhance Lightning Box’s presence in North America, having launched with British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) and Ruby Seven Studios’ social casinos earlier this year, as well as establishing a successful foothold in New Jersey’s online market.

Latest News

Unibet, part of the Kindred Group, has officially entered into the Indiana Sports Betting Market. Unibet is now available to bettors in the Hoosier State, adding to Indiana’s already impressive sports betting landscape.

Online casino and sports betting operator Rush Street Interactive (RSI) and blank-check company dMY Technology Group have announced that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement. As a result of the transaction, RSI will become a publicly listed company on the New York Stock Exchange.

Financial Results

Newgioco Group has announced its operating and financial results for the first quarter of 2020. The Company reported a strong quarter in spite of global economic difficulties and shutdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Newgioco reported a year over year increase in revenue from $9.3 million to $10.2 million generated from $116 million in turnover (betting handle) during Q1 2020 which represents an increase in revenue of 9.8% over Q1 2019.

Partnerships

FanDuel Group has entered into a multifaceted, betting-focused partnership with The Ringer. As part of the deal, FanDuel has been designated the exclusive sportsbook, racing and fantasy sports partner of the multimedia sports and pop culture content hub created by Bill Simmons.

Transaction technologies supplier JCM Global has entered into a partnership agreement with Cash Processing Solutions which enables JCM to supply advanced high-speed count/sort equipment and cash management software in North America.

Global Payments Gaming Solutions, a division of Global Payments, has announced that Wynn Resorts has implemented its suite of igaming solutions for use in the New Jersey online gaming market. Through Global’s igaming solutions, Wynn Resorts can enable a multi-channel approach, with an online casino and sports betting.

Acquisitions

Mozzart, one of the leading sports betting and gaming companies in Eastern Europe, has acquired Meridianbet, the betting firm licensed by Colombian regulator Coljuegos since 2018. Meridianbet has been rebranded as Mozzartbet.

HeadsUp Entertainment International Inc has entered into the final stage of negotiations to acquire a licensed online sportsbook and online casino platform. HeadsUp revealed that is in the final stages of a deal to acquire between 50% and 100% of shares of the company, which has processed over $110m in wagers and reported over $5.2m in revenue in the past four years.

Soo Kim, the co-founder of hedge-fund giant Standard General, has scooped up three casinos on the cheap since the pandemic struck in March. The three acquired casinos are Bally’s Atlantic City Hotel & Casino, Eldorado’s namesake property in Shreveport and Eldorado’s Montbleu in Lake Tahoe.

New Launching

Video Gaming Technologies (VGT) has launched its first-ever The Hunt for Neptune’s Gold lounge at Osage Casino Hotel, Tulsa on July 31. The 1100 square foot gaming space is adjacent to the hotel lobby and offers 32 of The Hunt for Neptune’s Gold games on the Helix XT cabinet.

Churchill Downs Incorporated has announced that it will launch its BetAmerica sports betting and iGaming platform in Michigan through a partnership with the Hannahville Indian Community.

Compliance

Las Vegas-based GameCo LLC has received a Casino Service Industry Enterprise License from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement. The company is now able to bring its diverse portfolio of esports betting, skill-based iGaming and Video Game Gambling products to casinos and sportsbooks in New Jersey.
