Committee looks for new CCC chairman in NJ

James T. Plousis has been nominated as the next chairman of the Casino Control Commission.
New Jersey’s Senate Judiciary Committee heard the nomination of James T. Plousis as the next chairman of the Casino Control Commission. Plousis, a former Cape May County sheriff, would replace Matthew Levinson.
Whilst Levinson’s term ended in August, a reappointment has been pending since February and he continued to work for the commission and will still do it until someone replaces him. Governor Chris Christie nominated James Plousis to replace Levinson on the board.
One of the reasons why Levinson will not continue in his position could be the long battle between the Governor and Levinson’s father, Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson. The Casino Control Commission features three members, each of them serve for five years. Whilst they cannot be from the same political party in order to reach consensus, the decisions and appointments made by the regulator require confirmation by the state Senate.
