Holland to privatise state-run casino operator

Dutch operator Holland Casino a state-run casino company, that has the legal monopoly on gambling in the Netherlands, is all prepared to receive privatised status in two years.
Menno Snel, the Dutch State Secretary of Finance disclosed the privatisation of Holland Casino. As announced during a Lower House consultation this week the operation is supposed to be wrapped up by 2020.
The process of privatisation was authorised last year by the Lower House during the preceding administration. Holland casino that has 14 casinos operating in the country is the sole provider of Las Vegas-style games (table, roulette, blackjack and more) in Dutch land-based properties.
Despite getting rid of the casino operator, Secretary Snel advanced that the government will still monitor the land-based casino industry alongside the local gambling regulator. He further announced that the state has already begun preparing the operator’s privatisation and has moved the responsibility to the Senate, which will now have to approve the operation. However, it is still unclear when the voting will take place, but it is expected to happen sometime soon.
