Lennart Käll – Svenska Spel CEO steps down

Svenska Spel has confirmed that Lennart Käll is to step down as chief executive of the company.
Käll has headed up the business for the past seven years, having taken on the role in 2011.
In a statement confirming the departure, Svenska Spel said Käll will now switch to his own business and board assignments.
Käll is expected to leave the company in the spring, but will continue to work with Svenska Spel in some capacity until the end of the summer.
The move comes ahead of the introduction of new regulatory and licensing laws in Sweden from January 2019.
“I am proud of what I, together with my management and other employees at Svenska Spel, accomplished during my time as CEO,” Käll said.
“We have delivered on the assignment of the owner and showed that as a gaming company we can combine responsibility and growth.
“Svenska Spel is facing a reorganised gaming market and new conditions; work on adapting the organisation for the new gaming market is proceeding according to plan.
“We are well prepared and look forward to competing on equal terms and this is a good opportunity for a new CEO to handle and continue developing Svenska Spel.”
Erik Strand, chairman of Svenska Spel, added: “We thank Lennart for the very good work he has done during his seven years as chief executive.
“Svenska Spel – Swedish people’s gaming company – is well prepared for the reorganisation that will hopefully come into force at the turn of the year.”
