CID, Royal Brunei Police Force apprehended 10 Philippine nationals for gambling

The Gambling Suppression and Anti-Vice Unit, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) apprehended ten Philippine nationals engaged in gambling activities at No 56 Tkt 1 Block C Bangunan Ong Keh Beng Kampong Madewa, Jalan Tutong last Wednesday.
RBPF disclosed that the police personnel, who promptly acted on the information from the public, raided the site and detained red handed four suspects (two males and two females) carrying out ‘Sap Sam Chong’ gambling activity.
At the same time, three suspects believed to be involved in 4D lottery were also charged on the spot. A carton of smuggled cigarettes and gambling equipment were seized and the culprits were brought to the CID for further investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 4 (c) of the Common Gambling Houses Act, Chapter 28 – which impose a $20,000 fine and 12 months’ imprisonment, Section 6(1) – which impose a fine of B$10,000 and imprisonment of 12 months, as well as Section 146 (1) of the Excise Order 2006 for Customs offence.
Note: The RBPF urges the public to channel information on such activities to the police by contacting 993 or the nearest police station.
