Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser has approved the Sports Wagering Lottery Amendment Act, which the DC Council passed last month. The Act will be enforced following a two-month review period by the Congress.
That means sports betting in all likelihood will become legal in the state within two months from now. However, there still remains some uncertainties regarding which of the sports betting operations will be available to launch.
The state government prefers start the proceedings at the beginning of the baseball season but, in order to reach its goal, it will need to fast-track implementation of the new legislation in order to issue licences.
