Cambodian PM Orders to End Online Gambling Businesses by the End of 2019

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has ordered the authorities to end all kinds of online gambling in the country by the end of this year in a bid to safeguard the security and public order.
According to the statement released by Council of Minister, “All kinds of online and arcade gambling in the Kingdom are illegal and that it must end all these businesses by the end of 2019. Samdech Prime Minister said that Cambodia needed to develop the country base on natural and cultural heritage tourisms but not based on an income from online gambling.”
Mr. Hun Sen signed a directive to ban all online and arcade gambling in the Kingdom. He noted that some licensed online gambling operations rigged their games and threatened those who are not able to repay their gambling debt. The Chinese government also has expressed support for Cambodia’s decision to ban all online and arcade gambling.
