IR bill to receive priority status from the Japan Parliament
The Japanese government will promptly submit the IR Implementation Bill to the parliament for consideration of the same. Delivering a speech on Monday at the initial ordinary legislative session for 2018, the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe affirmed that the government will submit the Integrated Resorts (IR) Implementation Bill as promptly as possible. He wants the bill to receive priority over other projects with regard to the fostering of Japan’s “tourism-oriented” profile.
Despite discussing the national budget for the fiscal year once the ordinary session commences, the government is determined to pass the bill soon. In accordance with this, the bill is set to reach the House of Representatives by March once it gets cabinet approval, as reported by GGRAsia.
As the ordinary session of parliament is due to end on June 20; the IR Implementation Bill will probably be passed sometime between April and that date.
Last year, Japan saw an 11 per cent increase in foreign visitors between January and November. According to the estimates from the Japan National Tourism Organisation. Integrated Resorts, tourist numbers are likely to grow way beyond current figures.
