UK’s Gambling Commission unveils new business plan for 2017/18

UK’s Gambling Commission (UKGC) has published its business plan for 2017-18 and invited industry members to have their say on its longer-term strategy.
The national regulatory body said that it’s aims for the new financial year are to empower and protect consumers, raise all standards across all gambling sectors, build partnerships and understanding, ensure fair play on the National Lottery and finally to improve regulation. Furthermore, the UKGC also said that it is looking forward at future plans and has issued a call for key stakeholders to help shape its three-year strategy.
The chairman of the UKGC, William Moyes declared: “By no means are we starting from scratch with our long-term strategy, but we are calling on all our stakeholders to share their views about how we and our partners can have the greatest impact for consumers – who are at the heart of everything we do at the Commission.
These highly valued contributions will help us to continue to improve how we deliver our core responsibilities. There is also a need to build and maintain consumer trust against the backdrop of changing consumer behavior. To do this, we wish to encourage the industry to be increasingly innovative to continue to keep gambling safe, fair and crime free.’’
This year’s business plan will focus on five key areas:
- empower and protect consumers
- raise standards across all gambling sectors
- build partnerships and understanding
- ensure fair play on the National Lottery
- improve regulation.
