New Hampshire rejects online gambling bill

The New Hampshire legislature has voted down an online gambling bill as it considered it “inexpedient to legislate”.

An online gambling bill (H562) which was set to be discussed by the New Hampshire legislature has been trampled down as members of the executive session unanimously dismissed it after considering it “inexpedient to legislate”. The state will now focus on other gambling activities and might reconsider the online segment in 2018

Gambling regulation and legislation seems to be moving forward in the US and Pennsylvania’s latter developments had caused optimism among the industry. However, New Hampshire won’t be discussing online gambling as it is still assessing how online lottery will impact the state as it was approved in July and will go live in 2018.

As the state’s gambling establishments are not big enough to run an online gambling operation, the government will annalyse what the gambling model will be, before passing any other online gambling bills.

There are several potential options, including casinos holding licenses but leaving the operation to established companies or the lottery taking over, but that will be discussed in 2018.
