Athens police score hit against illegal gambling
Athens police have arrested 68 people in what is being hailed as the force’s biggest score against illegal gambling with the closure of an unlicensed betting den.
The mini-casino was first identified on November 7 and was busted in a raid the following day. The facility was equipped with 46 computers on which punters could play games of chance, as well as four tables for playing cards and dice.
The raid resulted in the arrest of 67 customers and a 58-year-old man who is believed to have been the facility’s manager.
The police officers also seized 5,000 euros in cash.
