New Jersey changes head of control commission

According to reports that emerged in the last couple of days, the head of the New Jersey regulator will not be reappointed to the commission.
Chairman and CEO of the New Jersey Casino Control Commission will not be reappointed to the commission, as reports indicated in the last few days. Governor Chris Christie has also allegedly nominated James Plousis to replace Levinson on the board.
Whilst Levinson’s term ended in August, a reappointment has been pending since February and he continued to work for the commission and will still do it until someone replaces him. Plousis currently works as the chair of the New Jersey State Parole Board.
As local media Roi-nj reported, one of the reasons why Levinson will not continue in his position could be the long battle between the Governor and Levinson’s father, Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson.
The Casino Control Commission features three members, each of them serve for five years. Whilst they cannot be from the same political party in order to reach consensus, the decisions and appointments made by the regulator require confirmation by the state Senate.
