Betway on the ball with disability sport charity

Betway Group employees have raised more than £70,000 ($95,000/€80,000) for one of its charity partners, the English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS).
The betting operator, which is the shirt sponsor of Premier League team West Ham United, said the funds will go towards the EFDS’s Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI), which supports facility providers to improve their services to become more inclusive to disabled people.
EFDS works to make active lives possible by enabling organisations to support individual disabled people to be active and stay active for life.
Betway employees also raised £25,000 for the charity last year when more than 100 participated in the Silverstone Half Marathon.
Betway’s new chief executive Anthony Werkman said: “We are really pleased to have raised over £70,000 for the English Federation of Disability Sport, and are proud of all Betway Group employees who have contributed to this worthy cause.
“We are always looking to contribute to different charities and in 2018, our employees will vote on which charities Betway should partner with.”
The announcement comes as Betway also announced that it is to donate almost £16,000 to a children’s charity following a pledge linked to its sponsorship of the UK Snooker Championship in York, which concluded on Sunday. Before the tournament in York, Betway pledged to donate £10 for every century break, plus £10 for every point scored over 100, to charity Jessie May Children’s Hospice At Home.
“After a thrilling Betway UK Championship, we are once again delighted to be able to make this donation to such a fantastic cause,” said Betway’s Werkman.
Jessie May spokesman Julian Withers said: “A huge thank you to Betway for sponsoring the UK Championship and to the players for scoring so highly, enabling this fantastic donation.”
