Ladbrokes Coral reveals 15% gender pay gap

Ladbrokes Coral Group, the British-based betting and gambling company disclosed that the women staffs of the company are being paid 15% less per hour on average than men.
In compliance with the new reporting regulations this gambling firm claims to be one of the hundreds of UK-facing businesses to publish pay differences in mean hourly pay under the Equality Act of 2010.
The Act demands companies with over 250 employees to reveal their gender pay gap annually from April 2017.
Referring in its post, Ladbrokes Coral said, in the 12 months to April 2017 women’s mean bonus pay at the firm is 76% lower than men, but a greater percentage of women staff (80%) acquired a bonus compared to men (77%).
Ladbrokes Corals stated “weak representation at our senior levels” as the main reason behind the pay gap at the company, adding that it will now introduce a range of measures to help close this gap.
Ladbrokes Coral also added “The gap in both our mean pay and mean bonus shows there’s more work to be done, and while we don’t have an equal pay issue across the group, we do need to take steps to reduce our pay gap.”
“That means we’re having a closer look at the structure of our workforce and in particular what we can do to get more women into those senior roles.”
Measures involve proposal to support maternity and parental leave provisions, with a view to encourage female staff to return to work.
Ladbrokes Coral is also all set to re-introduce a programme of pliable working and promotion of novel models of working in its retail and other businesses, as well as introduction of unconscious bias training.
In addition to this, Ladbrokes Coral will “actively” look at new hire short-listing and promotion to enhance representation across the company.
