Nine held on charge of gambling in India
A gambling team comprising of nine-members was apprehended by the district crime division police while raiding a place in the vicinity of the Cauvery near Bangara Doddi canal, Srirangapatna.
As per the initial investigations, the history-sheeter Palahalli Raghu was operating the gambling ring. A release from the police headquarters on Tuesday said, when the police conducted the raid late on Sunday, all nine were ostensibly engaged in gambling, and were caught red-handed.
As per the release, the Srirangapatna town police are on the lookout for Palahalli Raghu and the police retrieved nine mobile phones along with some cash.
The arrested persons are Mohammed Mujahid Peersaab, 46; P. Subhash Puttaswamygowda, 32; Amith Prabhakar, 25; Ashok Kapanigowda, 49; Satish Gopalagowda, 37; and C. Swamygowda, 45; all natives of Mysuru; Gunasagar Ramegowda, 26 of Darasaguppe, and P. Putta, 47; and V. Mahesh, 21 of Palahalli.
