Jeju casino to attract international tourism

Upcoming Jeju Island casino operator is aiming to attract tourists from North and Southeast Asia by making the venue appealing to a variety of tastes.
The Jeju Shinhwa World Resort on Jeju Island was scheduled to start January 18, but was pushed back. The new date of inauguration has not be confirmed yet. However, its promoter, Landing International Development Ltd, has advised that in the meantime it is working to avoid the dependence upon Chinese tourists and it is working hard to attract tourists from both North and Southeast Asia.
Landing Jeju Development Co Ltd Senior Vice President of resort operations Albert Lim explained: “[the company’s strategy] is to largely focus on individual travellers. Our focus has also shifted to other visitor sources – Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and Southeast Asia. We are also targeting Japan, which is a very important source market.”
Once officially opened, the Jeju Shinhwa World casino is set to feature 160 gaming tables, 240 slot machines and electronic table games. The property, which is likely to be inaugurated next month, will be located at the Jeju Shinhwa World Marriott Resort, one of the many hotels at the complex. It has other two hotels, the Jeju Shinhwa World Landing Resort and the Somerset Jeju Shinhwa World, a convention centre, a K-Pop themed zone, a theme park and a shopping area.
