Implementation of Biometric Techonology to benefit Melco Resorts & Entertainment
Casinos are in the proximity of receiving an ascent in Japan as the IR Implementation Bill is all set to be voted during the next few months. However, the lawmakers are evaluating diverse strategies to confirm regulations are followed to the letter, including some that could turn out to be advantageous for Melco Resorts vying for an IR license.
As per the local media, the government could call for biometric technology be used to verify that, weekly and monthly casino visitation limits are being adhered to. If it does set this requirement, Melco Resorts could potentially benefit as it would include most contemporary technology in its casino.
The Melco Resorts & Entertainment (MRE) Chairman Lawrence Ho met with Japanese officials and proposed building The City of the Future resort last December. It would include “the world’s most advanced facial recognition technology for enabling responsible gaming and security,” in addition to “back-end access to and data-sharing with these systems free of charge.”
Being said that, should biometric technology be included in the legislation, it would be a small wonder if Melco ends up scoring a casino license.
