Illinois to grant slots in veterans establishments

Illinois legislators are working on a bill that would grant the installation of slots machines in veterans establishments where gambling is prohibited.
After the state legislators proposal these slot machines could reach new establishments in Illinois, mainly in all veterans establishments. The Video Gaming Act was thought to grant the use of slot machines in all the communities where the current laws prohibit gambling.
The Video Gaming Act is sponsored by Senator Terry Link who assured that the proposal would be monetary help for the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Nevertheless the proposal also has solod opponents from local leaders who are giving voice to their concern that the bill is an intrusion on local control.
The proposal was approved last week by the Senate and it’s already at the Rules Comittee, where it will be under heavy fire before it’s sent off for the final vote.
According to the Illinois State Gaming Board records, the Huntley American Legion Post 673 (veterans organization) made around US$116,700 from video gambling, this sum was used to renovate their establishments.
