Spain to impose restrictions on gambling ads

The Spanish government is planning to introduce tougher restrictions on the advertisements of gambling companies in the country. The new regulations are likely to be part of the country’s 2019 Budget.
Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, who leads the ruling Socialist Workers Party (PSOE), seems to have obtained the consent of the socialist Podemos party on this.
As per the agreement between the two leaders, restrictions “similar to that of tobacco products” would be introduced for gambling advertising.
Spain banned the sponsorship of tobacco products and almost all kinds of tobacco advertising and promotion in the media in 2005.
