Sports betting bill in Illinois may have to wait
An Illinois lawmaker, Democratic Rep. Lou Lang of Skokie, has suggested that it will take some more time to introduce sports betting legislation in the state’s General Assembly. He categorically stated that the bill will not be introduced before next year.
He added he is working on the sports betting bill. He said that the earliest the bill could be taken up is January 2019.
He revealed that several issued needed to be addressed such as where sports wagering will be allowed, how much it will be taxed and how to keep phone wagering secure.
Lang says sports gambling funds could help pay pension debt or a capital programme.
