BIATF asks PAGCOR to cancel all casino licenses in Boracay

The Boracay Inter-Agency Task Force (BIATF), the authority that has the responsibility to maintain law and order in the Boracay Island, has asked the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) to cancel all casino licenses that it issued in the region. This is following the order from Rodrigo Duterte, the president of the Philippines, to shut down all casinos in the territory.
“In view of the pronouncement of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte that no casino shall be allowed in Boracay Island, and in the light of the mandate given to it through Executive Order [EO] No. 5, Series of 2018, the [BIATF] requests that any and all gaming franchise/s and/or provisional licence/s in Boracay Island shall be cancelled by your good office,” the letter reads. The official document directed to PAGCOR Chairwoman Andrea D. Domingo also included casinos that operated there before the closure of the island on April 26.
This will adversely affect several proposed casinos in the island, for example, the proposed casino project by Galaxy Entertainment Group.
