Ubisoft Support blames customer interest for the launch of loot boxes

Ubisoft, which offered loot boxes called Gear Crates along with its latest motorcycle game Trials Rising, blames customer interest for the inclusion of loot games in the package.
However, customers are not happy with the launch and they are expressing their displeasure. The feedback from users about the addition of loot crates has generally been very negative. Ubisoft Support representative clarified the company’s position about Gear Crates in Trails Rising.
In a Steam discussion post pertaining to the “hotly debated topic”, Ubi_Warlock says, “They’re intended for players who want something to help them stand out from the crowd when playing online, or even just those who are big fans of the game and want to support us further.”
“Loot crates/cosmetic items in general have been a huge boon for the Gaming Industry, being a driving factor in the increased popularity of Gaming over the past decade or so,” the Ubisoft Support staff member continues.“They aren’t a bad thing if done right.”
The company seems to project that the only reason loot crates exist is because that gamers have proved that is what they want. Regardless of their reputation within the gaming community, there are still a lot of people who purchase loot boxes, even if it is just to obtain cosmetics. Similar to many other games, the Gear Boxes featured in Trials Rising can be purchased with real-world money and contain cosmetics. Ubisoft says that the revenue generated from loot box sales is put into developing new titles and to “understand what players look for in their games.”
“If players simply did not buy these crates, they would not be added into games in future.”
