South Dakota shows first signs of legalising sports betting
South Dakota becomes the latest state to begin preparations to allow legalised sports betting in the state. The state’s Attorney General Marty Jackley has said a petition for the proposed constitutional amendment to allow legalised sports betting will be circulated first. If the petition gets enough signatures, the proposed ammendment would be included in the election ballot in November 2020, after which the voters will decide the amendment’s fate.
Deadwood Gaming Association Executive Director Mike Rodman recently said that sports betting is another opportunity for them to market Deadwood. “We just don’t want to be left behind, you know, we want to be a part of that national conversation,” he said.
