Sands to open casinos in New York and Rio

Las Vegas Sands is planning to open casinos in New York City and Rio de Janeiro, according to reports.
LVS has hired New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s former operations chief, Howard Glaser, as a consultant. He has already set up meetings between LVS officials and New York business leaders.
The company also brought on Kivvit, a lobbying firm with more of Cuomo’s former employees.
In Brazil, LVS is willing to invest $10bn into a Rio casino and the city’s mayor is asking President-Elect Jair Bolsonaro to allow it. Mayor Marcello Crivella met with CEO Sheldon Adelson, who told Crivella the casino would double tourism and create 50,000 jobs. Crivella said he’d like Bolsonaro to allow three or four of these casinos throughout Brazil.
