X-TIP acquires Totolotek in Poland

XTIP Polska, a Poland-based gaming company is going to take control of Totolotek SA, a betting company based in the country. XTIP Polska has submitted the relevant application to the Office for Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) on December 14.
XTIP Polska is a joint venture of Merkur Sportwetten GmbH and TMT Investments S.A.
Along with various other businesses, the Gauselmann Group also operates a network of CASINO MERKUR-SPIELOTHEK salons. The group is also active in sports betting, online games and casinos. TMT Investments is in turn an investment and consulting company. It has a number of investments in Poland.
Totolotek is a licensed mutual betting operator in Poland, which offers sports betting, betting on matches, dogs and horses racing. It is controlled by Intralot S.A. Totolotek SA is a company which is responsible for organising the Lotto draws.
According to surveys conducted by CBOS, in 2017 almost half of adult Poles played gambling games. Lotto is the most frequently chosen game for money, and 40 per cent of the lottery respondents participates in them.
