Indian Minister proposes a complete gambling ban
Ravi Shankar Prasad, India’s Union Minister of Law and Justice, re-iterated that the government proposes a complete ban on gambling. He was talking at the Indian parliament after the country’s Law Commission had recommended a total ban on gambling.
As per the Minister, if a complete ban can’t be ensured, then the legalisation of gambling and betting with specific regulations and frameworks should be considered by the parliament and state legislatures.
Amar Singh, an independent member of Parliament raised a question of whether the commission had recommended legalising gambling and what the government would do regarding those recommendations. This leads to the discussion.
The Minister stated that they should approve a complete ban on gambling.
