Mississippi casino revenue increases in 2018

Mississippi has recorded a 1.7 per cent rise in casino revenue when compared to the previous year. As per the results of the state gambling regulator from Mississippi, the casino revenues in the state reached US$2.1 billion.
The casino revenue from August to December from sports betting operations was US$15 million. Local media reported that casino executives say that sports betting in Mississippi translates into more money lost on other casino games and more gamblers staying in casino hotels.
Moreover, the state collected US$169 million in casino taxes last year, approximately US$1 million coming from sports betting.
The 12 coastal casinos increased their revenues by 3 per cent to US$1.23 billion, which represents the fifth consecutive year of growth. Winnings increased 6 per cent in December to US$105 million.
