China’s Sports Lottery posts record revenue

China’s Ministry of Finance has reported that the total revenue from the country’s official lottery products surged by 19.9 per cent in 2018 year on year to approximately CNY511.47 billion (US$75.93 billion).
Sales of welfare lottery tickets fetched approximately CNY224.56 billion, 3.5 percent higher year on year. Sports lottery sales collected CNY286.9 billion, an increase of 36.8 per cent year on year.
The official data also showed an increase in lottery sales in all of the 31 provinces and cities of mainland China authorise to sell lottery tickets except Tibet, which recorded a year-on-year decline of 4.3 percent.
Growth rates in lottery sales of above 30 percent year-on-year were recorded in the Jiangxi and Guizhou provinces, said the Ministry of Finance.
