Game Payment Technology publish Technical Integration Document as bacta’s cashless app gathers pace
Game Payment Technology (GPT), the joint venture company established by bacta to develop an industry wide cashless payments app, has issued a technical integration document for gaming machine manufacturers and organisations following GPT’s appearance at the recent Autumn Coin-Op Show. The document provides machine manufacturers with the information needed to support Game Payment Technology’s cashless gaming solution. This comprises a Secure Linux Unit (SLU), which has been design engineered to connect through ccTalk in any ccTalk-enabled analogue or digital machine. Each SLU is supplied with the loom needed to connect it to the machine’s ccTalk bus.
Paul Deed, technical director at bacta’s JV partners, Polar Moment, explained: “The technical integration document describes the required steps for a manufacturer to support the installation of an SLU into their ccTalk-based machine. A development kit, comprising an SLU, loom, and NFC tags will be provided, free of charge, to manufacturers to assist with their implementation. To receive the kit we are asking recipients to agree to test and prove implementation of the requirements as outlined in the document.”
“It is important that manufacturers share their implementation timelines so that our technical resources can support the initial integration testing. Our pledge is to actively partner with the manufacturing community and provide support and answers to queries in order to ensure successful integration between machines and the SLU. We will be issuing separate guidelines covering the placement of supporting imagery onto machines and NFC tags, which players use in order to establish a connection between their phone and the SLU.”
Greg Wood, speaking on behalf of bacta, stated: “At ACOS I think we were all taken aback by the level of interest we received from all sectors of the industry including businesses based outside of the UK, which we had not anticipated. The technical integration document is a landmark next step, which demonstrates how we have moved from theory and demos to working with third party technical departments to show the robust nature of the app and how it works. Having already gone through the integration process, we are now making it as easy as possible for the industry at large.”
Game Payment Technology is a JV between UK trade association bacta (51 percent ownership) and developer and payments industry leaders, Polar Moment. The enterprise received the go ahead following June’s endorsement by bacta’s National Council.
