DraftKings Appoints Christine Thurmond as Director of Responsible Gaming
DraftKings has appointed Christine Thurmond as its Director of Responsible Gaming.
Reporting to Chief Compliance Officer, Tim Dent, Chrissy will join an expansive and expert internal compliance team at DraftKings. In her role, Chrissy will lead the expansion of DraftKings’ already robust Responsible Gaming framework for its iGaming, Sportsbook and Fantasy Sports products.
Chrissy joins DraftKings from her most recent role as a senior business contributor at the Massachusetts Council on Compulsive Gambling. Prior to that, Christine spent nearly 20 years working at Harvard Medical School, where she served in various leadership positions, including on the original team that created the Division on Addiction. During her time with the Division on Addiction, Chrissy oversaw the administration of education and research for the department and assisted in establishing numerous gaming-related programmes.
“Our goal in hiring a Director of Responsible Gaming was to find an established expert with a deep knowledge of the issues and a track record of pushing our industry forward and that’s Chrissy. We are committed to being a leader in responsible gaming and, given our foundation as a tech company, we think Chrissy can help DraftKings take an innovative approach to this critical issue,” Tim Dent, Chief Compliance Officer of DraftKings, said.
As part of its Responsible Gaming commitment, DraftKings provides customers with industry-leading responsible gaming tools, resources and services they need to play responsibly. DraftKings recently announced a partnership with the National Council on Problem Gambling as a Platinum Member, which will serve as an additional tool in the development of the company’s Responsible Gaming practices. DraftKings is also a member of American Gaming Association and the Sports Wagering Integrity Monitoring Association.
