Experts Reveal Shocking Image of What our Hands Could Look Like if They Evolved for Gaming
Gaming has been a popular pastime for many people around the world, with some choosing to take it a step further and pursue it as a full-time career. Its popularity continues to see growth year on year as a way for people to stay connected and escape.
But, with the human body not originally meant for gaming in terms of how our hands are shaped for holding controllers, what would they look like in the future if they adapted for optimum gaming performance?
Casino review experts, SlotsWise has partnered with experts to reveal what our hands would look like if they evolved for gaming in the future. From the lengthening of the index finger to a shrinking ring finger – we’ve created a 3D model showcasing what our hands could look like when gripping a controller in the future.
How the Hand Was Born
Simon Corenlius, managing director of Cornelius Creative explains how he sees our hands evolving to become better gamers.
“Manufacturers are responsible for designing controllers that lessen the impact on our physiology. Controllers, as they stand now, are ergonomically designed, however, the increased immersive experience of some games require more buttons to play.
“An increase of buttons on the controllers means our fingers, specifically thumb, index and middle are doing more work and must stretch further. I would therefore expect an evolution of our hands to include a lengthening of those fingers, with faster reaction times.
“The ring and little finger would recede and possibly become more claw-like to wrap around the controller.”
Below are the key points of the illustration:
-
An increase of buttons on the controllers enables players to be more efficient in their gameplay, speeding up reaction times when competing.
-
With extra buttons comes the need for fingers, specifically the thumb, index and middle finger to stretch further, this extra reach gives players an advantage when needing to press multiple buttons at once.
-
The ring and little finger recede to become more claw-like to wrap around the controller. According to our research, their main purpose will be hugging the controller, allowing our other fingers to do most of the work in a comfortable position.
