Retro-Parody Homage to Castlevania Wins Fan Favorite Vote Round 10 at the Game Development World Championship 2021!
The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest by independent solo developer Programancer from USA has won the 10th Fan Favorite Weekly Vote in the Game Development World Championship 2021 (GDWC).
“The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest is a parody/homage to NES ClassicVania and other NES titles from the era. The titular hero, Simon Quest, has just arrived in Transylvania only to discover his vampire hunting rival, Stan Helsing, has already slain the evil Count Dracula. In order to reclaim the glory that should be his, he journeys across Wallachia to gather what he needs to resurrect the dark count piece by piece and kick his ass himself!”
The game and developer move on to the final voting round to fight for the win of the Fan Favorite category at the end of the GDWC 2021.
2nd place went to HOW WE KNOW WE’RE ALIVE by Swedish development team Motvind Studios. The game is a “free hour long melancholy, point-and-click narrative mystery set in the bible belt of Sweden. Lovingly crafted and richly animated, explore the melancholy atmosphere of a small Swedish town that time seemingly forgot.”
3rd place was taken by Kick it, Bunny! by Russian development team DillyFrame. “Many stone figures were erected by ancient bunnies among the oases, but a disaster struck and all the figures were destroyed. Your task, as a true bunny, is not only to find traces of the old bunny civilization, but also to restore their wonderful buildings.”
Congratulations to the winners in and huge thanks to all voters and nominees from the GDWC Team. The GDWC 2021 Fan Favorite category Winner is decided in a series of pre-qualifying votes leading to the Final Vote. Each week nine games are up for vote and battling for the place in the finals.
