GAME Publishes Annual Report of the German Games Industry 2023

The Annual Report of the German Games Industry 2023 was published. On the occasion of the 5th anniversary of GAME, the German Games Industry Association, the publication was introduced with a welcome address from Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck. The annual report summarises all relevant information about video game players in Germany, the development of the German games market and the games companies based in Germany. In addition, the annual report provides an overview of German games funding, which has been characterised by constant back and forth in recent months: from the first application stop in October 2022 to the increase in funding to 70 million euros by the German Bundestag to the second and still ongoing funding application stop in May 2023, as well as the proposals on how games funding must be further developed at the federal level. Separate chapters also report on the work of the institutions of the German games industry such as devcom, esports player foundation, The Foundation for Digital Games Culture and the USK (Entertainment Software Self-Regulation Body). The gamescom and the German Computer Game Awards are also represented in the annual report with their own sections.
The Annual Report of the German Games Industry 2023 is available in German and English.
