Spillemyndigheden: Error Concerning Renewals of ROFUS Registrations

Recently, the Danish Gambling Authority identified an error concerning the renewal of existing registrations in the Register of Self-excluded Players (ROFUS). Around 1200 registrants were affected, but the error has now been corrected.
The error meant that people who renewed a ROFUS registration only had their original registration renewed but were not excluded from the new games that had been covered by ROFUS since the original registration.
Concretely, this means that some players by mistake had the opportunity to gamble at physical casinos or buy bets in betting machines.
Approx. 1200 people were affected by the error. The affected ROFUS registrations now apply to all games that are covered by ROFUS at the individual time of renewal.
The error has been fixed in the system, so that all renewals in the future exclude the registrant from all games covered by ROFUS at the time of renewal.
Also, the Danish Gambling Authority has found an error in “No thanks to gambling advertisements”. This error has been corrected at the same time, so that all individuals who have renewed their registration in ROFUS after 1 January 2020 are now covered by the mandatory scheme.
The Danish Gambling Authority also informs that the case has been reported to the Danish Data Protection Agency as a data breach.
The Danish Gambling Authority makes great effort to ensure that ROFUS is a stable and reliable service. All persons who have been affected will receive a direct message in e-Boks.
