IESF African Regional Qualifiers Host Announced
The International Esports Federation (IESF) is thrilled to announce the hosting of the first-ever offline event in Morocco, the regional qualifiers for WEC24 in Casablanca from August 17 to 21. This event marks a significant step forward for eSports across the continent.
The regional qualifiers will begin with online qualifiers from June 10 to June 19 where 300+ athletes will participate. 180 of them will advance to the IESF African Esports Championship Casablanca 2024.
Featuring 47 countries competing across five game titles and seven categories, the regional qualifiers in Casablanca promise an unforgettable tournament experience. The eFootball series tournament will be a promotional event for IESF aspiring members. Athletes and teams from the continent will gather in Casablanca, competing for a chance to represent their countries at the highest level and secure their place in the WEC24 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to lead the way and pioneer an offline eSports event in Africa,” the General Secretary for the IESF, Boban Totovski, said. “Casablanca’s hospitable reputation, rich culture and rising eSports community and the fanbase in Morocco make it the perfect host for this historic event. Our sincere gratitude goes to the Kingdom of Morocco for generously hosting this event and for its support in developing the growth of eSports in Africa. This tournament will display the unity and collaborative spirit among national federations and athletes across the continent.”
This event has already sparked excitement among the continent’s athletes and fans, who anticipate the impressive display of competition from each country during the qualifiers.
“Hosting the IESF Africa Esports Championship in Casablanca is a milestone for African eSports,” the President for the African Confederation of Digital Sports (ACDS) and the Royal Moroccan Federation of Electronic Games, Hicham El Khlifi, said. “It reflects our continent’s growing passion and potential in the digital sports arena. This event is more than a competition; it’s a statement of progress, showcasing the talent and spirit of African athletes to the world. We’re proud to lead this transformative moment for eSports in Africa.”
The IESF Africa Esports Championship Casablanca 2024 represents the IESF’s commitment to elevate the eSports ecosystem in Africa, inspiring future generations and showcasing the region’s evolving gaming community on a world stage.
