GamCare Appoints New Director of Clinical Operations
The gambling support charity GamCare is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Director of Clinical Operations, Tim Hodgetts, who will take on the new role from August 2024.
Tim brings over 22 years of experience across the health and social care sector. Before joining GamCare he held senior leadership roles for the NHS, most recently responsible for the management and leadership of healthcare services across the county of Dorset – integrating health, social care services and voluntary organisations to align with the National NHS objectives.
As Deputy Director for Integrated Care Services with Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust, Tim was responsible for all aspects of quality improvement, quality monitoring, risk management, safeguarding, financial management and performance management.
Under his leadership Tim transformed the urgent care services, including the local NHS 111 telephony and on-line service to become the best-performing in the country.
In his new role, Tim will work closely with GamCare’s Leadership team and will be responsible for the strategic oversight and all operational management of GamCare’s clinical and support services, including the National Gambling Helpline and online support, regional treatment services, and the broad range of impactful prevention and education programmes the charity provides.
Tim Hodgetts, Incoming Director of Clinical Operations at GamCare, comments: “I’m delighted to be joining GamCare and supporting the team to deliver its priorities. The opportunity to lead and support the organisation to continue delivering high-quality, personalised, support services, including the National Gambling Helpline – outstanding of its kind – that ensure the best possible outcomes for people experiencing gambling harm, is why I was attracted to the role.
“I’m excited to work closely with existing partners, the NHS, and government, and to establish new relationships to help shape the future of prevention, education, and treatment within the gambling harms space.”
Margot Daly, Chair at GamCare, adds: “I am delighted to welcome Tim, whose significant expertise, knowledge, and insights will be invaluable to the clinical leadership of the GamCare team. I look forward to making further senior appointments in due course.”
GamCare operates the National Gambling Helpline – available 24/7 – for people to call for free practical advice, information and support around gambling. The charity also provides free treatment sessions across London, the South East, Yorkshire, the East Midlands and Scotland as part of the National Gambling Support Network.
GamCare also delivers a broad range of impactful prevention programmes, including the Women’s Programme, Criminal Justice Programme, and Money Guidance Service. Since April 2020, GamCare has led the Young People’s Gambling Harm Prevention Programme (YPGHPP) alongside five partners. The largest programme of its kind in the UK, the YPGHPP has reached over 133,000 young people, 28,000 parents and professionals.
