Lars Krarup Becomes New Chairman of Danske Spil

Former long-time mayor of Herning Municipality, Lars Krarup, will become the new chairman of the board of Danske Spil.
Based on a recommendation from the Ministry of Finance, Lars Krarup will take office as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of Denmark’s state-owned gaming company Danske Spil in connection with an extraordinary general meeting on June 3, 2025.
In addition to his many years of political activity as mayor of Herning, Lars Krarup has extensive experience from board work, including as chairman of the board of both Realdania and Team Danmark.
Throughout his professional career, Lars Krarup has worked with business management, sports, culture, entertainment and communities in various guises and he is looking forward to his new assignment at Danske Spil.
“I am very pleased with the trust that has been shown in me. In my work as mayor and in sports, I have experienced firsthand how Danske Spil’s profits support both small, large and professional communities, and it is a privilege to contribute to continuing to secure the financial foundation for Danish association life and thousands of good causes. Danske Spil is a particularly important social actor, not only because the company brings together 1.9 million Danes each year around the dream of winning for the benefit of the community, but also because profitability and responsibility go hand in hand when Danske Spil leads the way for a more responsible gaming market,” said Lars Krarup.
