Why GamblingInformation.com Is Becoming a Global Benchmark for Online Gambling Integrity

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Ed Roberts is the 37-year-old editor-in-chief of GamblingInformation.com. He has had a passion for the iGaming industry since he first joined a prominent sportsbook as a member of the customer support staff. With a business degree from the University of Reading, and a passion for writing that he has been exploring since he was a student there, Roberts set out to change the gambling market.

Now, as editor in chief of GamblingInformation.com he is dedicated to gearing the site towards customer-focused reviews and an accessibility that isn’t matched by many. The ultimate goal for Roberts and the website he is in charge of is to become a global benchmark for online gambling integrity. In this interview, we’ve asked him some questions about his plans to achieve just that.

Interview Questions

What does “integrity” mean to you in the context of online gambling, and how is GamblingInformation.com embodying that principle?

Integrity is all about the safety and security of the customer. How can we claim to be a user-friendly website if we recommend unsafe websites? That is why GamblingInformation.com only promotes casinos that have been licensed and have a track-record as secure. We deeply value our player’s safety, especially at a time when cybercrime is becoming a growing issue.

How does your platform ensure fair and unbiased representation of casinos, especially when commercial partnerships are involved?

At GamblingInformation.com, we thoroughly evaluate the features of every casino that we promote. From their dedication to responsible gambling to each and every individual condition that they’ve placed on their bonuses. If we find something that may not sit right with us, we do not partner up with the casino.

You operate in multiple jurisdictions. How do you maintain compliance with differing regulatory standards across regions?

We have a very dedicated team that does daily research into the regulatory measures taken by the countries in which we operate. Sometimes, a country may change its policy, and we make sure to update all of our reviews in order to reflect that. It is also true that working across regions has given us a deeper appreciation of the industry and the small intricacies within.

In what ways does GamblingInformation.com support responsible gambling and player protection on a global scale?

We have Responsible Gambling experts working round-the-clock to make sure that the pages we promote meet our high standards. The website has also partnered up with two prominent figures in responsible gambling in Canada, and we share hotlines to groups that can help anyone who believes they are at risk, or have already succumbed. I encourage all new and experienced players to go through our responsible gambling page, and get an idea of what we are all about.

How do you vet the casinos featured on your site to ensure they meet high ethical and operational standards?

The first thing we do is go over their responsible gambling policy. Our expert in responsible gambling examines the website’s deposit limits, self-exclusion policies, and makes sure to see that they do reality checks and time outs. We also examine the promotional features, and how thoroughly they pay out.

Are there any particular European regulatory models or licensing frameworks that influence your approach to content and transparency?

Well licensing transparency is a big one. We like to acknowledge the regulator behind the casinos that we promote. Like, we’ve openly acknowledged that we trust the UKGC and the MGA. We also admire clear and concise terms and conditions, which many European regulatory models also emphasize the importance of.

With increasing scrutiny on the affiliate marketing space, how does your platform position itself as a trustworthy intermediary?

We’ve found that users are much more likely to support us if we are transparent in our goals. That is why we try to be as open and honest with our viewers as possible. The ultimate goal is to make sure that they are happy to be part of the GamblingInformation.com community. Furthermore, we operate on a very user friendly model, rather than being too involved with SEO.

How does your global approach help unify best practices in player education and safer gambling, regardless of the region?

We like to think that we combine the best of different markets, you know? We operate on a global scale, so we have to meet different standards, depending on the country’s laws. But, most of the time the laws are there for a reason, and we like to keep to certain standards even if we don’t need to. That is how you build trust and ensure a better industry for everyone.

What feedback have you received from regulators, affiliates, or players that validates your platform’s role in raising industry standards?

Customer feedback is especially important to us. The fact that our customers are satisfied is what is most important. That being said, it does please our team to be called a “trusted beacon” in the industry. The fact that we’ve been recognized for our transparency and dedication to a safer market means a lot to us.

Where do you see GamblingInformation.com in the next 3-5 years, and what role will it play in shaping the future of ethical online gambling?

We hope to get bigger, of course. That is the goal of any business. In 3-5 years we will still be active in the community, sharing reviews about new casinos or games. We hope that we’ve contributed something to the online gambling market already. We are seeing more and more sites implementing transparency policies, so I think we’ve inspired some people already.
