Andrew Lee to assume the Managing Director’s post at BetStars.

Former William Hill Executive Andrew Lee has been commissioned as the new Managing Director of the Stars Group’s BetStars.

The online sports betting brand of The Stars Group Inc., BetStars, today publicised the commissioning of Andrew Lee as its Managing Director. Going forward the responsibilities for the performance, growth and strategic direction of the sports betting business will rest on his shoulders and will be based in the Isle of Man at Stars Interactive Group headquarters.

Lee, who has been involved in the online gaming industry since 2000 is an experienced gaming executive who served as Managing Director of William Hill Online from October 2012 to January 2016, and assumed as the Interim Head of Mobile of William Hill Online from April 2012 to October 2012. He will join BetStars on January 29, following the stepping down of Zeno Ossko who held the role since September 2016.

Rafi Ashkenazi, the CEO of The Stars Group stated: “Andy is an experienced operator with proven credentials of developing an industry-leading online and mobile sportsbook.” “We expect his appointment will help us achieve our aim of developing our sports betting business into a strong secondary customer acquisition channel to our leading poker business, improve its market share in our top European markets, and prepare it for future geographic expansion.”

“I want to thank Zeno for his nurturing of BetStars into an emerging pan-European sportsbook; a period in which we recorded strong growth in players, engagement and wagering.”

At William Hill, Lee was responsible for the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of its online business. Under his leadership, William Hill Online became an industry leader with significant growth in net gaming revenue driven by a clear strategic focus around mobile, customer experience, data and innovation.

Lee said: “I’m looking forward to helping The Stars Group achieve its sportsbook goals by continuing to grow and develop its customers’ experience, reach, and market share within the exciting and growing global gaming market.”

Most recently (July 2016 to May 2017) Lee was the President of WorldRemit, a money service business focused on disrupting the traditional offline international remittance market. Lee has previously worked in the financial markets in senior analyst and sales roles focusing on the hospitality, entertainment and gaming industries for several firms including Dresdner Kleinwort, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Jefferies International.
