Convergence Of Markets In Online Sports Betting at Prague Gaming Summit 2020

Betting on sports via online platforms, the main driver of convergence in gambling. Follow the topic at Prague Gaming Summit 2020.
In a 2016 study, called “Understanding the convergence of markets in online sports betting” and published by Hibai Lopez-Gonzalez, Mark D Griffiths, there is an interesting paragraph that points towards a change in the way sports bettors are perceiving the future.
“Betting on sports via online platforms has rapidly become a popular form of gambling in many countries. Despite the growing body of research investigating the psychosocial and individual psychological factors determining gambling behavior, much less attention has been devoted to understanding the market characteristics of online sports betting and its intersection with products from adjacent industries. From an economic convergence perspective, the present paper explores the integration of online sports betting within the digital, sporting and gambling sectors, examining how data markets, eSports, virtual sports, social gaming, immersive reality tools, sports media, sport sponsorship, fantasy sports, in-venue and in-stadium betting, poker, and trading are all converging around betting activity. Through this convergence process, it is argued that internet-based sports gambling is colonizing different forms of entertainment, and expanding marketing opportunities, as well as raising psychosocial concerns about the influence of such an integration process.” You can read the full study here (https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/1012690216680602)
The paragraph mentions that through this convergence, it was argued that online sports betting will bring a different form of entertainment. Well, it did, and most of the industry is benefiting from it! Whenever we talk about live betting, mobile betting, gamblification, gamification, fantasy sports, eSports, single-wallet solutions that cover devices and land-based touchpoints and so on.
The convergence has happened and it has driven the industry forward to embrace new waves.
At Prague Gaming Summit, leading experts will form new opinions about the recent trends and how this convergence was possible in numerous European countries.
The panel discussion will be moderated by Bogdan Coman (Executive Director of ROMBET) and will be joined by Jakub Myszkorowski (Chief Commercial Officer at STATSCORE), Dr. Christian Rapani (Attorney at Law at Dr. Christian Rapani) and Assaf Stieglitz (President at Odds1x2 Holdings).
