Self-Excluded UK Player Contacted by Casino to Claim Prize
Reading Time: 2 minutes

A self-excluded gambling customer with problem behavior said he was contacted by the online casino he had banned himself from to claim a £100 prize at a time he was battling his addiction, The Mirror reports.

Andy Fowler self-excluded himself from online gambling brand LeoVegas after losing more than £40,000 over a two-year period and realizing that he was a gambling addict. Several weeks after banning himself from playing at the online casino, the player received a text message that invited him to return to the gaming website and claim a £100 prize. Here it is important to note that Mr. Fowler had entered the draw before making the important decision to self-exclude himself.

Mr. Fowler told media that having banned himself from gambling at a particular online casino, he should not be contacted by that casino for any reason that could encourage his addiction. The former LeoVegas player went on to say that although he could not have spent the £100 prize at that casino, he could have gone to any other online casino and spent the money there.

Under UK gambling regulations, players with problem gambling behavior can self-exclude themselves from gambling at one gambling website or another for a period of five years. During that time, they should not be contacted by the website and should not be presented with any promotional content that could fuel their gambling addiction.

LeoVegas, which entered UK’s online gambling market in the summer of 2015, said that the sole purpose of its communication with Mr. Fowler was to inform him about his £100 prize, the draw for which he had entered prior to banning himself from the online casino’s website. The Malta-based iGaming operator went on to say that it did not intend to advertise any of its products to its self-excluded player and that it believed it was acting in full compliance with UK regulations for socially responsible provision of gambling services.

Flutter Donates Over €285,000 to Charity Partner Spinal Injuries Ireland at Dublin Charity Ball

Flutter hosted its second Charity Ball in Dublin last week, raising over €285,000 for Spinal Injuries Ireland – Ireland’s only dedicated support service for people living with a spinal cord injury. The money raised – of which €100,000 was matched by Flutter UKI – will be transformational in the charity’s efforts to provide more services across the country.

Founded in 1994, Spinal Injuries Ireland’s mission is to engage with people with a spinal cord injury, along with their family members. Together, they address barriers to full participation in society and empower their service users to work towards achieving personal, social and vocational goals.

Hosted by Irish stand-up comedian and presenter, Doireann Garrihy and Paddy Power himself, over 400 attendees at Dublin’s Mansion House generously contributed to fundraising efforts through an array of activities including a Mascot Race, Silent Auction, Golden Envelopes, Spin Wheel, Bingo and a raffle. Attendees also heard speeches from the team at Spinal Injuries Ireland and Flutter’s CLO and Group Commercial Director, Padraig O’Riordain.

The Charity Ball showcases Flutter’s pledge to Do More for its communities, as part of its global sustainability strategy, the Positive Impact Plan. The goal of Do More is to improve the lives of 10 million people by 2030, which is made possible by Flutter’s scale and the collective passion of its colleagues.

Phil O’ Kelly, Head of Fundraising at Spinal Injuries Ireland, said: “We are profoundly grateful to the team at Flutter and to everyone who attended the Flutter Ball for their incredible generosity and support. The event was not only a wonderful celebration but also a monumental success.

“Thanks to the astonishing amount of funds raised, we are now able to offer peer-to-peer support and counselling to every individual with a spinal cord injury in Ireland who needs it, for the next two years.

“This is an extraordinary achievement, one that will create a lasting and deeply positive impact on the spinal cord injury community in Ireland. From the bottom of our hearts, a sincere thank you to Flutter for your unwavering support and all you have done for Spinal Injuries Ireland this year.”

Pádraig Ó Ríordáin, CLO and Group Commercial Director at Flutter, said: “Last week’s Charity Ball held in The Mansion House, Dublin in aid of Spinal Injuries Ireland was a tremendous success. It was a true pleasure to undertake fundraising for this wonderful charity which provides an essential service in Ireland.

“We are grateful for the generosity of our guests and donors who collectively helped us to more than double our original fundraising target. The success of this event underlines Flutter’s commitment to the communities in which we work. This is a fundamental objective of Flutter’s Positive Impact Plan.”

Paddy Power has launched a new online game – Paddy’s Mansion Heist – becoming the first company to create an exclusive branded gameshow. The game is available to all UK & Irish players.

The first-of-its-kind online Live Casino Game Show has been made possible through collaboration with Playtech Live Casino. The gambling software development company worked closely with Paddy Power to create a custom designed, immersive and large-scale studio showcasing what a year of innovation and creativity can produce.

Set within Paddy’s Mansion, the game offers players the opportunity to pull off the ultimate heist. Paddy’s Mansion Heist incorporates high tech engine technology, enhancing player experience, which was the main priority during game development.

With market leading four live action bonus rounds and entertaining presenters, users have the chance to bet on Paddy’s 54 segment wheel and explore the Mansion through a series of interactive rounds, stealing “lucrative loot” from each room.

The game culminates at Paddy’s legendary Vault, where players will be teased with scenes of Paddy’s shimmering gold. Participants can win up to a maximum of 4000x their bet – however, it’s not going to be easy.

Roisin Hogan, Commercial Director at Flutter, said: “PP Games’ longstanding partnership with Playtech has led us to developing one of our most exciting games ever – Paddy’s Mansion Heist. This game represents Playtech’s and PP Games’ commitment to innovation and delivering an unparallelled customer experience. We are thrilled to bring this exciting game to market.”

Kevin Kilminster, Chief Product Officer at Playtech, said: “We are proud to collaborate with an iconic brand like Paddy Power, one of Playtech’s longest standing partners to launch Paddy’s Mansion Heist. Bespoke games have become essential to cater to the evolving market demand for personalised, entertainment-led experiences. Mansion Heist delivers on the theatre and engagement that Paddy Power players have come to expect.”
