Dutch Gaming Authority slaps €400,000 fine on two online gambling websites

The Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), the Dutch Gaming Authority, has slapped a €400,000 penalty on the gambling websites 1xbet.com and xbet-1.com.
The regulatory body has found that in a certain period, both gambling sites could be accessed from within the Netherlands. These websites also used the Dutch language and Dutch payment method iDeal.
Games of chance offered included live casino games such as roulette and blackjack and further investigation showed that Exinvest and 1X Corp were behind another 83 Dutch gambling websites, which could be accessed with the same player account.
René Jansen, chairman of the board of directors of the KSA, said: “Online gambling in the Netherlands is illegal. Under the current legal regime for companies, it is not possible to get a licence for offering online games of chance. Consumers are not assured of a safe game on an honest market with illegal providers.”
