Dutch regulator eyes social games

The Dutch Gaming Authority is set to further control social casino games in order to prevent illegal and problem gambling.
Kansspelautoriteit, the Dutch Gaming Authority, is set to further control over social casino games as it believes they could trigger problem gambling in the country, as well as foment unlicensed and illegal online gambling services.
The regulatory body is set to adjust regulation in order to prevent the risks surrounding the segment.
Research firm SuperDara Research compiled a report and found out that nearly 50 per cent of respondents under 24, went from social gaming to real-money gambling. The attractive of winning money is, according to Kansspelautoriteit, leading social gamers to switch to actual gambling.
The regulatory body believes that social casino games can lead to “trivialisation of gambling activitiesâ€, as reported by casinonewsdaily.com, and is set to double its effort in monitoring the field. It is also set to analyse the impact social casino gaming might have on users and potential addictive tendencies towards gambling.
