Playtech adds UK Gambling Commission veteran to compliance team
London-listed gaming solutions giant Playtech has hired Richard Bayliss, a former senior online manager at the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC), for a role in its compliance team.
As regulatory compliance manager, Bayliss will take a leading role in developing responsible gambling initiatives at Playtech.
“Everyone at Playtech is delighted to welcome Richard,” Playtech group head of regulatory affairs Ian Ince said. “With a wealth of experience with UKGC, his insight will be a major bonus as we strive to stay at the forefront of regulatory compliance developments. I’m certain he will be an invaluable addition to the team.
“A commitment to promoting responsible gambling and fostering a safe and entertaining environment for players is central to everything we do at Playtech,” Ince explained. “Richard’s appointment and his enthusiasm for joining Playtech demonstrate the strength of that commitment, and is a key part of our ongoing investment in exceeding regulatory expectations.“
Bayliss moves into the private sector following 11 years with the UKGC, where he was responsible for monitoring technological and product innovation in the gambling industry, evaluating the impact of such advances on the UK regulatory system.
“After more than a decade assessing the regulatory impact of technological developments in the industry, I’m looking forward to seeing some of these developments first-hand in my new role,” Bayliss said of his move to the supplier.
“Playtech has long had a reputation as a major innovator in online gambling, and I’m very excited to be joining the team.“
Shares in Playtech plc (LSE:PTEC) were trading up 0.56 per cent at 784.20 pence per share in London Monday morning
