Gambling in the USA
Summit On Sports & Gambling in the USA
PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP
WEDNESDAY, JULY 18, 2018
8:00 AM – 12:00 PM PART 1
1:00 PM – 5:00 PM PART 2
The 3rd Annual Summit on Sports & Gambling brings together thought leaders in the sports and gambling fields to review current issues, discuss next steps and provide solutions to minimize the negative impacts of gambling addiction on athletes and society.
The United States is facing the biggest potential expansion of gambling in its history with the recent Supreme Court decision on sports betting.
With the revolutionary shift in attitudes towards sports betting by the professional sports leagues and the expected action of dozens of states to pass legislation allowing sports betting, there is an urgent need to examine current consumer protection issues and prepare to mitigate problems caused by the anticipated expansion of legalized sports betting. Individuals involved in amateur and professional sports are at higher risk for gambling problems, and gambling problems are a threat to the health of athletes and to the integrity of the game.
