Denuvo and GG Esports join ESIC
The Esports Integrity Coalition (ESIC) has got two new members as new two companies, Denuvo and GG Esports, have joined the organisation.
The addition of these two companies will “help strengthen and solidify ESIC as a truly global organisation dedicated to combating all forms of corruption and cheating in the world of esports.”
The objective of the ESIC, formed in 2015, is to handle common threats to esports such as match-fixing and betting fraud. The existing members of initiative include ESL, DreamHack, Intel, Rivalry.GG, and UMG.
Since the coalition has formed it has led efforts to uphold standards of vital principles applied to esports such as leading a 2017 investigation that culminated in two Dota 2 players getting banned from UCC tournaments for two years for betting fraud.
Ian Smith, Esports Integrity Commissioner said: “It’s always wonderful to welcome new members into the Coalition. This gives us the resources and reach with new technologies and new betting operators to improve our efforts to detect cheating and betting fraud and keep esports safer against the threat of cheating, match manipulation, betting fraud and doping.”
Denuvo is a provider for application protection and anti-piracy technology with its software used by game publishers and platforms.
Reinhard Blaukovitsch, Managing Director of Denuvo, Irdeto said: “Esports is a rapidly growing sector and with increasing interest and large prizes on offer in esports events, cheating can have huge ramifications on both players and the industry. Our membership of ESIC is a symbol of our commitment to protecting legitimate players from the negative impact of cheating in esports and this is a natural extension of our focus on securing online multiplayer games against cheating. We believe our experience will be valuable in this shared mission.”
GG Esports is a community platform that gathers a range of esports analytics, predictions and analysis for fans to view.
Anders Lui at GG Esports said: “It is an honour to enact the mission statements of ESIC. We shall unite together as defenders to enforce the true connotation of esports establishing pure joy and excitement to our audience.”
