Minor girl arrested when parents took her to an Illegal Gambling Den in Malaysia
A 10-year-old girl was among the 114 persons arrested from an illegal gambling joint in Rawang, in Malaysia. Her parents, who were active gamblers, brought her there as they did not want to leave her alone at home.
The Bukit Aman and the Selangor Police who carried out the search operation released a statement: “A total 208 slot machines, 73 simulators, 63 chips and RM16,808 cash were confiscated in this operation. A slot machine costs RM10,000 to RM15,000 each which makes the seizure worth over RM1 million,” he told a press conference about the raid. Other than the little girl that was detained, another 42 people who were caretakers of the gambling dens and 72 customers aged 18–59 years old were arrested in the operation.
GP Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun, as quoted by Malay Mail said, “As we have seen, there is also a 10-year-old child arrested after being taken along by her parents who came to gamble. This is very serious and we are committed to eradicating the many activities that bring social problems.” He also said that since the announcement of the special operations unit, they have received more than 100 information about illegal gambling nationwide. The unit will then immediately raid the premises once they verify the information.
“The police will cooperate with Local Authorities, Tenaga Nasional Berhad and Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd to curb the gambling,” he added. The police will look into the modus operandi of the premises to prevent them from resuming their operations. Don’t do this to your kids, please.
